On Tuesday evening a young couple came to my desk. Both in their late-twenties...at the most.
Not guests of the hotel, but inquiring about a mellow place to grab a drink where they could listen to some music. I joshed them mentioning a lounge where they could listen to some, "Death Metal."
More seriously though, after more closely assessing the situation I noticed that she was with a Guide Dog and anytime she spoke he focused his entire world on her, hanging on her every word.
The love that I saw between this couple was something that I can only dream of for myself and wish for those close to me. The energy that these two emitted was that of a deep history, maybe not long, but deep. They had an unspoken bond that can only come with overcoming adverse situations.
As they walked away headed toward a nearby pub on my recommendation, I noticed a slight limp in her gait. He gently grabbed her hand which hung limp at her side, her other hand holding the leash of the Guide Dog. A feeling of hope washed over me and peace flooded my heart.
Witnessing something as honest as this helps me to believe that there is still good waiting in the wings of the future.
